Your 'operating system' (or 'OS') is the software that runs on your phone or tablet. We support both the iOS and Android operating systems, and have an app that runs on each of these OSs.
What we support strikes a balance between:
Which OS versions do the majority of our customers use, and what other banks support
Which OS versions get security updates
We have a responsibility to protect our customers. Using an older OS version comes with extra risk
The total number of OS versions there are to support
New versions of iOS and Android come out each year. The app runs best on these most recent OS versions, and we want customers to have the best experience possible
We support a fixed number of OS versions: 4 versions of iOS and 8 versions of Android.
At the moment, we support iOS 13 and later, and Android 6 and later. When iOS 17 and Android 14 come out in 2023, we will stop supporting iOS 13 and Android 6.
Devices will come with a specific version of an OS, and the manufacturers provide updates for several years after it's released. If you can upgrade your OS, please do so. You can then continue to use the app and access your account as usual.
You may have multiple devices - for example, a phone and a tablet. If one of the devices isn't compatible, it's possible that another device is.
If you will no longer be able to access your Paywicks account from a compatible device, then unfortunately you can no longer be a Paywicks customer and we will need to close your account.
We depend upon the apps for many things: to keep you informed of activity on your account, for you to manage your account and make payments, to chat with our customer service team, and more. We don't believe it's fair to you to have a Paywicks account that you can't access.
If you are in this situation, we will reach out to you a full year in advance of us stopping supporting the OS that you use, and explaining what will happen.
